Simulating Cognitive Complexity in Work Systems
نویسنده
چکیده
The Brahms Generalized Überlingen Model (Brahms-GÜM) is a cognitive-behavioral simulation of aviation work practices that reveals how normally complicated situations become cognitively complex for people in a dynamic environment of malfunctioning tools and non-routine workload. Brahms-GÜM was developed by analyzing and generalizing the roles, systems, and events leading to an aircraft collision, a scenario that can be simulated as a particular configuration of the model. Brahms-GÜM demonstrates the strength of the Brahms framework for simulating behaviors of asynchronous (or loosely coupled), distributed processes in which the sequence of spatialtemporal interactions can become mutually constrained and unpredictable.

Measurement of Complexity and Comprehension of a Program Through a Cognitive Approach
The inherent complexity of the software systems creates problems in the software engineering industry. Numerous techniques have been designed to comprehend the fundamental characteristics of software systems. To understand the software, it is necessary to know about the complexity level of the source code. Cognitive informatics perform an important role for better understanding the complexity o...
متن کاملThe Impact of the Objective Complexity and Product of Work Task on Interactive Information Searching Behavior
Background and Aim: this study aimed to explore the impact of objective complexity and Product of work task on user's interactive information searching behavior. Method: The research population consisted of MSc students of Ferdowsi university of Mashhad enrolled in 2012-13 academic year. In 3 stages of sampling (random stratified, quota, and voluntary sampling), 30 cases were selected. Each of ...
متن کاملThe Paradox of Intervening in Complex Adaptive Systems; Comment on “Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation”
This commentary addresses two points raised by Kitson and colleagues’ article. First, increasing interest in applying the Complexity Theory lens in healthcare needs further systematic work to create some commonality between concepts used. Second, our need to adopt a better understanding of how these systems organise so we can change the systems overall behaviour, creates a paradox. We seek to m...
متن کاملتشریح ویژگیهای شناختی شغل اپراتور مرکز کنترل ترافیک شهری و توصیف مراحل اجرای تکنیک (CWA (Analysis Cognitive Work
Introduction: As the traffic is one of the most common social troubles in big cities, widen the roads culture and using the intelligent methods are using to control the traffic. Therefore, the traffic control systems are innovated. These system operators have to do many cognitive jobs to manage these systems. CWA as a framework to improve the design of these systems has introduced i...
متن کاملSimulating activities: Relating motives, deliberation, and attentive coordination
Activities are located behaviors, taking time, conceived as socially meaningful, and usually involving interaction with tools and the environment. In modeling human cognition as a form of problem solving (goal-directed search and operator sequencing), cognitive science researchers have not adequately studied “off-task” activities (e.g., waiting), non-intellectual motives (e.g., hunger), sustain...
